Harrison Onditi
President
Harrison Onditi is the President of the Kenyan Community in Colorado, dedicated to fostering unity, celebrating Kenyan culture, and strengthening connections across the diaspora. He holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado Denver, works in construction and project management, and serves as an adjunct professor at the Community College of Aurora. Through his leadership, he is committed to building a welcoming and supportive community for Kenyans across Colorado.
John Michael Odawa Ondiek
Vice President
John Michael Odawa Ondiek is a distinguished member of our Kenyan community and serves as Vice President, bringing both professional excellence and a deep commitment to community service. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and has built a successful career as a Senior Electrical Engineer based in Colorado. Driven by a passion for innovation and lifelong learning, John is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science Degree in Software Engineering In Artificial Intelligence — a testament to his forward-thinking mindset and dedication to staying at the forefront of technology.
As Vice President, John brings strong leadership, technical acumen, and a genuine heart for the community. He is committed to fostering unity, growth, and opportunity among Kenyans in Colorado and beyond.
Ian Nyabwari
ICT Director
Ian Nyabwari is the ICT Director of the Kenyan Community in Colorado, dedicated to leveraging technology to connect, empower, and elevate the Kenyan diaspora across the state. With deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and web development, Ian brings a wealth of technical knowledge to the community — from managing enterprise-level CDN and security systems to building digital platforms for small businesses. He is also an entrepreneur with active ventures in e-commerce, web development consulting, and Kenya-focused tourism, reflecting his passion for bridging opportunities between Colorado and Kenya. Through his role, Ian is committed to modernizing the community’s digital presence and ensuring Kenyans across Colorado stay informed, engaged, and connected.
Chris Okere
Communication Director
Born and raised in Kibera, Nairobi, Chris learned the values of community, connection, and leadership early in life. Rooted in the Kenyan spirit of harambee and resilience, those formative experiences continue to shape everything he does.
After moving to Colorado to reunite with family, Chris quickly fell in love with the state and made it home. His career spans an impressive range of creative and entrepreneurial pursuits — from performing as a dancer at the Kenya National Theatre and Bomas of Kenya, to working as an actor and comedian, to studying Music Technology at the University of Colorado Boulder. He has also built a reputation as a music promoter and entrepreneur, having founded successful organizations in Kenya, and continues to operate as an international businessman.
As Communication Director, Chris brings his unique blend of creativity, cultural fluency, and storytelling to keep the Kenyan community informed, connected, and united.
Kimathi Muriithi
Secretary
Kimathi Muriithi is a high school mathematics teacher and track & field coach based in Aurora, Colorado. Having grown up in the area, Kimathi has witnessed the vibrant growth of his community firsthand and is deeply invested in its future. He brings this passion for community-building to his role on the KCC Management Committee.
A proud 2024 graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Creative Technology and Design, Kimathi has a proven track record of leadership. During his time at CU, he served as the founder of Kenyan Youth in Colorado and as the Finance Chair for the university’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Described by his peers as a leader who brings warmth, empathy, and grace to every interaction, Kimathi is dedicated to embracing differences and uniting people.
Dr. Irene Wanyonyi
Assistant Treasurer
Dr. Wanyonyi is a passionate community activist who believes in the power of unity, strength in numbers, and building lasting community connections wherever we are. She brings a wealth of experience in community service and activism for both social and economic empowerment.
Dr. Wanyonyi holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Memphis, Memphis, Tennessee, and works as a Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs in the pharmaceutical industry. She brings extensive experience in cross-functional project management and operational excellence. She looks forward to partnering with KCC management and the Colorado Kenyan community in building a stronger union of Kenyans within the state of Colorado.
Samantha Gathioro
Event Planner
Samantha is the Event Coordinator for KCC. She has been a member since its inception back in 2008, when her mother, Rosemary Ndungu, also served on the Committee and was one of the founding members of the organization.
Samantha holds a degree in Health Science and is currently working for a healthcare corporation in their division office. She is a dedicated member of the Kenyan community and has served in various capacities, one of which was as a board member of the Kenyan Youth in Colorado (KYC), helping the youth navigate the complexities of being Kenyan American and how to merge the two cultures, amongst other challenges.
Samantha has an eye for event curating and planning and is ready to serve the Kenyan community at large. She hopes to curate KCC events that bring all Kenyans across the state together and create experiences that last a lifetime.
Timothy Kinoti
Youth Coordinator
Timothy is a communications professional and public servant with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, where he works to ensure communities have access to clear, honest information on the issues that affect their lives. Driven by a heart for service, he stays active in the community as a basketball coach and youth ministry leader.
Joyce DiCaprio
Treasurer
Joyce DiCaprio is one of the founding members of the Kenyan Community in Colorado and proudly serves as Treasurer. Having been part of the organization through its various iterations, Joyce is deeply passionate about its continued growth to serve an ever-expanding community. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration, bringing strong financial expertise to the committee.
While maintaining reliable and transparent financial records is her professional forte, community leadership has been a calling Joyce has embraced since high school — where she volunteered in various capacities across school clubs and organizations. That spirit of service has carried through her entire career, as she consistently steps forward to lead outreach and community programs wherever her professional journey takes her.
